Farmers, Farmer-Florists, Freelancers, & Delivery Driver
Flowerwell, founded in 2015, is a cut flower farm in Brockport, NY (25 min from Rochester). We grow on 2+ acres both in high tunnels and on farmland. Our focus is selling to florists and designers, along with growing & designing for our own weddings and events. We extend our season by focusing on holiday wreath making, dahlia tuber sales, and teaching creative classes to the community.
The Jobs
We strive to build a great team of farmers and floral designers, delivery drivers, and freelancers while combining the skills, talents, and abilities of each team member to help grow Flowerwell.
We have found that our best teams have included both highly experienced farmers/florists and those who are newly turned on to this field. We encourage applicants of all experience levels. Specific jobs and responsibilities may be tailored to the individual, but overall, everyone at Flowerwell works together to produce the highest quality cut flowers, from seed to sale (or centerpiece). In our daily work, we:
Prepare our farm for planting, transplanting, and direct seeding in fields and high tunnels
Maintain said plantings (cultivate, weed, manage, feed, prune, deadhead, end-of-season clean-up, etc.)
Harvest and uphold post-harvest procedures
Prep and load flowers for orders (wholesale)
Prep for weddings and design for weddings/ events/ special orders
Assist in our retail department (dahlia tuber selling/splitting & Holiday Evergreen Wreaths)
The Ideal Candidates
Our ideal candidates are curious about farming and/or designing, energetic, creative, and consider a good work ethic to be among their core values. Emotional maturity, self-motivation, reliability, and an aversion to drama are very important. In short, attitude is everything. Flower and gardening knowledge are highly valued, as is the desire to learn. Everyone must have the ability to work (pleasantly) in all kinds of weather, to work individually or with a team, lift 40 lbs, and keep a clean and organized workspace. We welcome all folks to our team, from all walks of life and backgrounds. All employees are responsible for housing.
